Filtration and separation devices
Clarifying and separating liquids is an essential part of many laboratory practices. At Gilson we offer filtration devices to suit the level of separation you require. With filter papers ranging from 25µm down to 1µm and membranes that retain particulates of 0.45µm and 0.2µm as standard our products can perform a wide variety of demanding liquid preparation tasks.
Filter PapersMunktell has been producing the finest quality papers and filtration products for analytical applications since 1815. Their range of papers and glass microfibre filters is produced to the highest standards with superb lot-to-lot consistency. Widely used within the brewing, agricultural and environmental testing markets these filters offer a diverse choice of particle retention, flow rates and dimensional sizes.
VIEW RANGE→ Glass & Quartz MicrofibreGlass microfibre is often used as a pre-filtration stage to clarifying samples due to its increased flow rate, capacity to hold particulate matter and its fine pore sizes. It is biologically inert and much more resistant to aggressive chemicals than standard cellulose filters. Regularly used in quantitative applications e.g. the analysis of total suspended solids in waste and potable water.
VIEW RANGE→ Syringe FiltersSyringe filters are the most efficient method of filtering small volumes of solutions to the sub-micrometer level. The different filter media types are selected for their specific qualities appropriate to the solution being filtered. Choose cellulose acetate, PES or nylon for aqueous solutions, PVDF for more aggressive solutions or PTFE for oils and air venting applications.
VIEW RANGE→ Membrane FiltrationVacuum driven membrane filtration achieves a finer grade of filtration than with paper; typically down to 0.45 and 0.2µm for the exclusion and analysis of suspended solids and bacteria from a sample. Available in different materials from cellulose esters for aqueous solutions to PVDF for aggressive solvents, these filters are widely used in microbiological applications.
VIEW RANGE→ Transfer MembranesDeveloped for DNA/RNA and protein analysis these membranes are commonly used in Southern and Western blotting applications. We offer a choice of membrane material to suit your methods from pure and supported nitrocellulose to nylon and PVDF.
VIEW RANGE→ Extraction ThimblesCellulose thimbles are designed to fit a wide variety of soxhlet extraction glassware. Used in the determination of fats, pollutants in the environment, analysis of natural products from plants, plasticizers from PVC, etc. Made of pure cotton fibres offering high mechanical strength with an excellent retention capacity.
